Project and Special Events Management

This is an advanced subject that studies the theoretical, conceptual and practical issues in project and special events management. It analyses the policy, planning, implementation and review processes that are necessary for effective project and special events management. This interdisciplinary subject draws from the literature in business strategy, accounting and finance, organisational design and behaviour, production and quality management, human resources and industrial relations, marketing and marketing communications, management of technology, environmental sustainability and business law.

Learning Objectives:

  1. using many of the skills acquired in earlier core subjects, the subject develops the ability to recognise opportunities and manage projects and special events;
  2. understand the key concepts in project and special events management, strategic project management and complex high technology project management;
  3. gain an understanding and appreciation of the complex nature of project and special events management through analyses of Australian and international cases and the use of experiential and simulated learning activities.

Assessment by group presentation/project (20%); individual project (40%); special events group project (40%).
