Second semester.
Available to suitably qualified students who are enrolled for the degree of Master of Applied Science in Tropical Agriculture.
Staff: Assoc. Professor R Coventry, Mr C Gardiner.
The research project will start in second semester after completion of subject TA5230 (Literature Review and Research Proposal).
Each student will be required to present a seminar when the bulk of the data acquisition is complete and a start has been made on the writing of the dissertation. This will ensure that the student has the benefit of constructive criticism before embarking on the final stage of writing up.
Learning Objectives:
- to develop skills in planning and carrying out a program of research work in agricultural science;
- to collate and analyse data arising from monitoring or experimental programs;
- to draw appropriate conclusions and report on the significance of the research work in the form of a dissertation (ca. 80 pages, excluding figures, tables etc).
The assessment will be based on the report of the examiners on the dissertation and on advice from the supervisor on the students general performance and aptitude as a researcher.
