Ecological Physiology of Plants

Second semester.
Interaction between vascular plants and the physical environment is examined. The course focuses on the effectiveness of the different photosynthetic systems, strategies for optimising plant water use efficiency, plant energy budgets, the regulation of gas exchange and the light environment within natural and agricultural canopies. Students will be required to attend lectures and laboratory classes in BT3230 and participate in a field trip.
Assessment by examination, research project, seminar and literature review.
