Available to Tertiary Access Course students.

This subject provides a basic introduction to the disciplines of Computers and Biology. Major topics: introduction to computers; computer architecture; input and output devices; operating systems; programs; documents; introduction to biology; cells; organisation, classification; plants; animals; the human body.

Learning Objectives:

  1. an understanding of the foundational concepts in the fields of computers and biology;
  2. an understanding of the foundational manipulative skills required in computers and biology.

Assessment by examination (30%); practical reports (25%); tutorial sheets (25%); attendance and participation (20%).
