Physiological Systems and Processes 2

40 lectures, 30 hours practicals. Second semester and by distance education mode.

Available to all Nursing Science students only.

This three-unit course comprises the basics in physics; introductory and applied microbiology; genitourinary system; acid-base balance; cardiovascular system; high altitude; diving and space physiology; and nutrition.

Learning Objectives:

  1. physiological systems and processes in the human body;
  2. fundamental concepts of physics;
  3. fundamentals of microbiology as it relates to health and disease;
  4. organ, tissue and cellular interrelationships;
  5. high altitude, diving and hypobaric medicine.

Assessment by examination (70%); practical class attendance (10%); written laboratory assignments (20%).
