The subject comprises an overview of cellular organisation, chemical and biochemical concepts, classification of skeletal system, muscle, joints and tendons; the integument system; blood and lymph system; the immune system; central nervous system; reproductive physiology; heredity; and respiratory physiology.

Learning Objectives:

  1. physiological systems and processes in the human body;
  2. fundamental concepts of chemistry;
  3. organ, tissue and cellular interrelationships;
  4. central nervous system, excitable membranes;
  5. reproductive and respiratory systems.

Assessment by examination (70%); practical class attendance (10%); written laboratory assignments (20%).
