HEALTH SCIENCE
Postgraduate studies in Health Science is available at Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Masters levels. Full details on the courses are outlined in the Award Requirements.
Currently there is a program in Rural Nursing Practice which aims to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable rural nurses to provide quality care to rural and remote communities.
To enter the programs, a candidate must be registered as a nurse.
GRADUATE CERTIFICATE OF HEALTH SCIENCE (RURAL NURSING PRACTICE)
A candidate must complete the 12 units as listed below:
- Rural Nursing Practice I:03
- Rural Nursing Practice III:03
- Cross Cultural Nursing:03
- Adolescent Health:03
GRADUATE DIPLOMA OF HEALTH SCIENCE (RURAL NURSING PRACTICE)
In addition to the 12 units listed above, a candidate must complete the 12 units as listed below:
- Rural Mental Health:03
- Trauma Nursing Course:03
- Emergency Nursing Paediatric Course:03
- One elective unit chosen from
- Rural Nursing Practice II:03
- Nutrition:03
- Midwifery Practice Enhancement Unit:03
These subjects are offered and coordinated by the Rural Health Training Unit, Cunningham Centre, Toowoomba.
MASTER OF HEALTH SCIENCE (RURAL NURSING PRACTICE)
In addition to the 24 units listed above, a candidate must complete 12 units selected from the postgraduate subjects offered by the approved Schools in consultation with the Head of the School of Nursing Sciences.
