General Strand
Alternatively, students may choose to compile their own General strand of study by following the BSc degree requirements as follows:
Choose 72 units of subjects from the following:
- at least 18 units from Table Va (level 1 subjects);
- at least 15 units from Table Vb (level 2 subjects);
- at least 18 units from Table Vc or Table Ve (level 3 or postgraduate and applied science subjects);
- not more than 6 units may be credited from subjects listed in Table Va3 (that is, preparatory subjects);
- not more than a total of 18 units may be credited from subjects listed in Tables Va3 (that is, preparatory subjects) and Table Vf (that is, subjects from other faculties);
- not more than 30 units may be credited from level 1 subjects.
All students may follow a general strand but should be aware that there may be timetable problems.
It is recommended that BSc students should include some computing and mathematics-based subjects in their degree programs.
